Our History
Grown from Responsibility
The roots reach back to 1926: With the Milchhof Miesbach, a cooperative structure was established for the collection and marketing of regional milk. In the 1970s, a decisive course was set: For professional marketing abroad, an independent trading structure was created – also to properly represent export business organizationally and economically. Since then, Oberland eG has developed step by step: expansion of product ranges and markets, modernization of location and brand, and strengthening of international competence through complementary units and new locations.

Milestones at a Glance
1926 – Founding of the Cooperative
On June 13, 1926, the cooperative was founded at the Gasthaus Wendelstein in Miesbach under the name “Milchverwertungsgenossenschaft”. 85 people attended the founding meeting – a strong sign of the solidarity among farmers in the region at that time.
1927 – Construction of the First Dairy
Just one year later, the first dairy was built. For the construction, a loan of 40,000 marks was requested from the Bayerische Staatsbank München. For the financing, among others, Jakob Maier, Josef Hofer, and Abraham Heiß assumed personal liability. The first dairy equipment cost 33,349 marks.
1929 – First Milk Delivery Contract
On January 24, 1929, the first milk delivery and local contract was concluded with the company J.A. Meggle (Wasserburg). The lease initially amounted to 5,000 marks per year and increased to 15,000 Reichsmarks by 1939. A remarkable social regulation also dates from this period: one pfennig per liter of milk was paid to the poor fund of the city of Miesbach.
After 1945 – New Start After the War
After World War II, the contract with Meggle ended and the dairy was again operated directly by the cooperative. The dairy director Fridolin Hafenmayer brought dairy workers from South Tyrol to Miesbach in the late 1950s – an important impetus for the location.
1966–1972 – Expansion and Growth
Between 1966 and 1972, the dairy was extensively expanded, and affiliated cooperatives were incorporated. During this phase, the Milchhof Miesbach paid one of the highest milk prices in Bavaria for many years. At the same time, several properties and houses were acquired in Miesbach and important corporate structures were established.
1973 – Founding of Milchproduktenhandel Oberland eG & Gastroservice
With the founding of Milchproduktenhandel Oberland eG and the expansion of Gastroservice, the business field was expanded – a step that positioned the cooperative more strongly and broadly in the long term.
Late 1980s / 1990s – Structural Change and Difficult Years
The structural change in the dairy industry also affected the Miesbach dairy. 1994 saw economically difficult years.
1995 – Contract with Molkerei Weihenstephan
In 1995, a business and milk purchase contract was concluded with the state dairy Weihenstephan – a decisive step toward securing the future.
1997 – Closure of the Miesbach Dairy
At the end of 1997, the Miesbach dairy was closed. This step was painful but necessary: It significantly contributed to securing the assets and stability of Milchhof Miesbach eG in the long term.
1998 – Move to the New Building
With the move to the new building, the infrastructure was modernized and the path prepared for a future-oriented organization.
2018 – Founding of Euro Käse GmbH
With the founding of Euro Käse GmbH, another strong pillar was established.
2022 – Integration of Team East (Warsaw Office)
The integration of Team East with a location in Warsaw marks the next development step – with new capacities and a stronger international orientation.

The cooperative spirit is reflected in daily operations through openness, mutual trust, and the commitment to exclude no one – even smaller structures remain part of the whole.
Values That Enable Collaboration
Reliability is not a platitude, but an expectation toward colleagues, partners, and customers. Commitments should hold – even when things get complex. Equally important is a sense of responsibility: toward members, employees, suppliers, and customers – and toward the region. This is complemented by a culture in which team spirit and mutual support are not “nice to have,” but prerequisites. Open conversations, respectful exchange, and the inclusion of different perspectives are integral parts of this culture.

Quality Promise
Quality Arises from Experience, Partnership, and Precision
Quality at Oberland means more than compliance with certificates.
It arises through decades of experience, close collaboration with producers, and a deep understanding of technical requirements on the customer side. In the dairy and cheese trade, quality determines process reliability, further processing, and brand trust. Oberland eG therefore relies on clear standards, reliable processes, and partnership-based cooperation along the value chain – from origin to delivery.
In addition, individual recipes, different maturation levels, and flexible production coordination enable precise supply for dairy products – even with complex requirements.
